One factor that is immediately apparent is the fact that the service
is flawless. As soon as we were seated, warm rolls and water
were brought to our table. Drink orders were quickly taken and
that was followed by the arrival of a delicious cream or watercress
soup.
I guess one of the things that I most dislike about buffets is the
feeling of chaos - and waiting in line. Because the restaurant
is so well-staffed, the line is short, moves quickly, and there are
several servers behind the buffet table to identify the variety of
unusual offerings.
Everything was delicious - poached salmon, tender ham, celery root,
veal sweetbreads, pate', chicken salad with dill and enough other
choices to hold your interest. After entree's were finished, a
dessert cart with many temptations arrived at the table. No
one left hungry - that's for sure.
Pierre's seems to be a popular spot for business folks who want good
food without spending two hours of their time. It's clear that
this establishment has found the magic formula - efficiency mixed
with good, interesting food. -Jersey Shadow-

Arthur's
Tavern - Arthur's
Tavern has been a mainstay in Morris County for quite a few years,
and I decided to check it out one weekday evening. I've had
some good steaks here in the past for very reasonable prices and the
prices are just as great this time around. I opted for the hot
pastrami sandwich this time, and was generally disappointed by
the whole experience. The meat was very lean and very good, but
it wasn't hot only just warm. I also ordered it with some
Russian dressing and when the server returned with it, my meal was
cold. I rarely send back food, and judging by the server's mood
it would have caused a problem. My meal was tasty, but I sure
didn't get what I asked for.
On the other hand, my guest had an excellent hamburger and raved
about how good it was. I did sample one of the potatoes that
came with the burger and they were greasy and went uneaten. So
as I always say, consistency is the name of the game in the
restaurant biz, and on this day it was not-so-good. The tables
on the main floor are noisy and it's hard to hear, so don't look for
a quiet experience. The low prices will surely get me to
give Arthur's Tavern another shot, but not anytime soon. -Jersey
