Famished Frog - The Famished Frog in Morristown offers a great lunch for area business professionals and those just passing by. Just off the square, this wonderful place is within walking distance to many, and I had to check it out. I was lucky enough to get a parking space on the street, but there is a parking garage just around the corner as well.

The dining room was warm and comfortable and on this day crowded, but we still got to sit right down - always a plus. There were many good choices on the menu and I went with a chicken quesadilla with jalapenos. It was very good and came quickly on a big plate complete with the traditional garnish of sour cream, guacamole and salsa. -Jersey Shadow -

My guest went with the quiche and remarked how delicious it was. It was a combination of cheese, green onions, bacon and tomatoes. It was not the usual pie wedge that is served in most restaurants, but rather baked and served in an individual oval baking dish - steaming hot and moist. It was accompanied by sliced cantaloupe - a very nice touch.

It's important for food to arrive promptly, as people are busy and it's clear to see that the regulars depend on their fast and friendly service. The service was very good on this day and even the manager stopped by to see how we were enjoying our lunch.

For the level of service, the quality of the food and the speed of preparation the cost was surprisingly reasonable. I'll definitely be returning soon. -Jersey Shadow -

Church Street Cafe - Montclair has become a very artsy community where people take to walking in the town center. This Essex County town has been revitalized in recent years and all that planning is starting to pay off in a big way. Along Church Street are little shops and restaurants. I checked out the Church Street Cafe on a recent cold Saturday afternoon.

After a quick take of the menu in the window, I stepped inside with a guest and was seated at a booth by the door. I took my coat off and then put it right back on as it was too cold. I noticed that diners at other tables had their coats on. Okay... okay I should have noticed it when I was looking in the window at the menu, but in my defense my mind was on the food. The heat was on inside but it just escaped every time the door swung open. By now a very friendly waiter arrived so it was time to take a shot and hope for the best.

I went with the basic bacon cheeseburger and my guest had the egg on a croissant. It took a long time for our meal to come but once it arrived it was good and very reasonably priced. Aside from the length of time it took to prepare our meal, the service was excellent. I would return in the future but not if I was in a rush. Also, I don't like to eat inside with my jacket on, so perhaps a summer return would be best. -Jersey Shadow -
