Stepping
into this
establishment just
off a very busy
Route One, I was
immediately
impressed with the
dining space and
atmosphere...spacious and
inviting.
Sitting down, I was
struck by the fact
that this may well
be the very first
time I have eaten in
a restaurant calling
itself a diner that
has linen napkins...
wow! I began
to look over the
menu and a coke was
on it's way.
The menu was large,
well written, and
even had the date at
the top.
Looking
over the menu I
found interesting
ambitious dishes
like Ethiopian
Chicken. I
began to wonder what
would a place like
this do with a
traditional steak
salad? Well
the first thing that
jumped out at me was
how it was written
up on the menu as a
NY Strip Steak
Salad. The
waiter kind of
shocked me when he
asked me how I
wanted it cooked as I
haven't been asked
that before with a
diner steak salad.
Anyway, I said
medium well. I
know some of you who
read me often know I
like raw beef but properly
cooked medium well is wonderful.
I
expected to get a
nice salad with some
strips of steak on
top, but what arrived
was nothing short of
amazing for a
diner... well ok,
fine diner as they
like to call
themselves.
For 15 dollars I
received and entire
NY Strip Steak
perfectly cooked to
my order alongside
some very fresh,
crisp romaine
lettuce, long cut
cucumber slices perfectly
dressed in a creamy
horseradish
dressing. Some
warm sauteed onions
on top completed
this perfect
picture. The
waiter even ran
and brought me
a steak knife.
Innovation
is alive and well in
New Jersey and the
Jersey Diner just
got finer with the
Skylark Fine Diner
& Lounge.
This is an eating
experience not to be
missed -- by all
means, go and enjoy.
