Cloverleaf
Tavern - Over in Caldwell is a place where folks meet
up for food and drink called the Cloverleaf Tavern.
This friendly Tavern on Bloomfield Avenue has been in
existence since 1933 as evident from the vintage feel to
the exterior. On
this particular Tuesday night, the bar was busy and the
tables were filled. It appears that this place is
known for steaks and pub grub but something called
Cloverleaf Chicken caught my eye and I decided to be
adventurous and try it. This chicken was marinated in
beer and spices and although it had an interesting flavor
I wasn't impressed with it. Those who like
subtle flavor in their food might well love it, but I was
under whelmed. This place has a lot of character and
the Caesar Salad I ordered with my meal was very good.
I
tasted my guests cheddar burger and it was superior, as
were the fries. While I wouldn't recommend
anyone who is into flavor that pops try the chicken I had,
I would say the Cloverleaf Tavern is a good place to check
out. The prices are excellent and the service was
good the evening I was there. Judging by the
diverse crowd, it seems like a local dependable
favorite. On a future trip I'd be a little less
adventurous in my ordering and happy to stop by for a
burger or try a steak or some other pub grub. -
