Sebastian's
Steakhouse - Sebastian's
Steakhouse in Morristown caught
my eye on a recent August
afternoon. The facade of
this very nice looking building
appears reminiscent of an old New York-style
steakhouse.
I found Sebastian's to be very
comfortable and relaxed.
All signs indicated that a
memorable meal was just minutes
away.
I
began my lunch with a mixed
field greens salad with (as they
call it) "EVOO" or
extra virgin olive oil.
The oil was very tasty and high
grade, but I didn't find much in
the way of mixed field greens unless you
count some romaine and bibb
lettuce which was all I saw and
tasted. The shaved cheese
on top helped a little but not
much... so I looked toward my
entree... the classic
Gorgonzola cheeseburger.
Well,
at ten dollars one would
expect something better than
okay, but it was only okay at
best. The fries were good
and helped the just-okay burger
along. My guest ordered the
marinated grilled jumbo shrimp
served over greens which
similarly was mediocre. Walking into a
place like this definitely lifts
one's expectations, as it should,
and perhaps if I arrived on
another day my experience would
have been different. The
service and ambiance were
outstanding. I just wished the
food was right there to match
it. It's not a good
situation for a restaurant to
have consistency issues, but they
can be fixed. First
impressions are often lasting
ones and at a place like this
they are critical when servicing
the high dollar patron. - Jersey
